100 Black Men of Atlanta is set to celebrate four decades of mentoring and educational investment at its 40th Anniversary 100 Honors Gala in Atlanta on Saturday.
A milestone for Atlanta’s Black youth
The black-tie gala is scheduled for 3 October at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis and is intended to raise money for Project Success, the organisation’s flagship youth development programme.

Founded in 1986 by entrepreneur Nathaniel R. Goldston III and 18 associates, 100 Black Men of Atlanta has grown into a local network of more than 200 members. Its work centres on mentoring, academic support, scholarships and career pathways for African-American young people.
The organisation says Project Success students have recorded a 100% high-school graduation rate, with 95% progressing to college and graduates receiving a cumulative $8.5 million in scholarships. Those figures are self-reported by the organisation.
Honours for business, civic and sporting leadership
The gala will recognise individuals and companies whose work reflects the group’s focus on service and opportunity. The Coca-Cola Company is due to receive the Andrew Young Lifetime Achievement Award, while Olympic champion and Morehouse College graduate Edwin Moses will receive the Nathaniel R. Goldston III Trailblazer Award.

Other announced honourees include Bentina C. Terry, president and chief executive of Southern Linc and Southern Telecom; educator and author Brandon P. Fleming; Atlanta civic leader Sidney D. Barron; and attorney Diriki T. Geuka. Gas South and UPS are also listed among the corporate award recipients.
The organisation says proceeds will support mentoring, scholarships, educational programming and wider opportunities for young people in Atlanta.
Why the anniversary matters
For Black Atlanta, the anniversary is more than a gala milestone. It highlights the sustained role of community-led institutions in building routes into higher education, professional networks and economic mobility at a time when access to opportunity remains uneven.
100 Black Men of Atlanta says its next phase will focus on deeper partnerships with schools, employers, foundations and community organisations, alongside expanded college, workforce and leadership pathways.
