Rotarian Gretel Rejoice Asigbe-Tsriku has assumed leadership of the Rotary Club of Accra Ridge, taking the helm from Rotarian Oppong Agyare Agyeman-Anane following a formal induction ceremony. The change in leadership marks the beginning of a new chapter for the service organization as it pursues what Asigbe-Tsriku has identified as her guiding principle: creating lasting impact within the communities the club serves.
In her inaugural address, Asigbe-Tsriku expressed deep gratitude for the confidence placed in her by the club's membership and emphasized her intention to lead with deliberation and integrity. She framed service not merely as an institutional obligation but as a personal commitment that each individual member should embrace. Her vision centers on moving beyond routine meetings and conventional projects to inspire members to contribute their time, expertise, resources, and compassion in ways that fundamentally improve lives and strengthen the fabric of their communities.
Recognizing that meaningful change requires resources and expertise beyond what any single organization can provide, Asigbe-Tsriku extended an appeal to external stakeholders, community partners, and supporters to join the club's efforts. The previous Rotary year, under Agyeman-Anane's direction, demonstrated considerable institutional strength and programmatic success. The club maintained full membership retention while welcoming three new Rotarians, expanding its roster to 63 active members. Financially, the organization raised over eleven thousand United States dollars for The Rotary Foundation and mobilized more than one hundred sixty thousand Ghanaian cedis for internal service initiatives. Throughout the year, the club executed eleven community-focused service projects, each designed to deliver measurable benefits to residents across Accra.
In his handover remarks, Agyeman-Anane reflected on his tenure with humility, emphasizing that his administration prioritized service to communities over individual recognition or institutional legacy building. He credited the club's board members, committee leadership, and rank-and-file membership for driving the organization's achievements, describing their unified commitment as essential to everything the club accomplished. By framing the year around the organization's foundational motto—service above self—Agyeman-Anane underscored the philosophical commitment that guides Rotary's work and pledged continued support for his successor's leadership.
As the leadership transition takes effect, Asigbe-Tsriku has also seized the opportunity to address broader public perception of Rotary, clarifying that the organization welcomes participation from the general public and functions fundamentally as a humanitarian service entity dedicated to improving lives. This clarification suggests an interest in expanding the club's reach beyond its existing membership base and deepening community awareness of its work.
