Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have decided to relocate back to the United Kingdom after years of building their lives in California, marking a significant shift for the couple who dramatically stepped away from royal duties in 2020. The couple's relocation does not represent a complete abandonment of their American life. They intend to maintain ownership of their Montecito, California residence as well as property they hold in Portugal. During their years in the States, Markle pursued media production projects, developing several docuseries and television programs, some of which remain in development. These ventures represent their efforts to establish themselves professionally outside the traditional royal framework.
The motivations behind this significant decision remain largely private, though speculation centers on whether family tensions have genuinely eased or whether health crises have prompted a reassessment of priorities.
