A “Karen” video circulating online shows a woman approaching a TruGreen lawn care truck parked outside her Black neighbor’s house, demanding to know the exact “contents” of what was being sprayed. Instead of approaching the homeowner directly, however, she paced the sidewalk in front of the house, looking agitated. She apparently planned to call the company to complain—bypassing her neighbor entirely. Eventually, a worker stopped her and asked, “What are you doing?”

He added, “This is not your house!”
Still, she was not wrong to wonder what chemical the crew was spraying. But in the video, she erroneously cited a “half-mile” rule to justify her right to know. A half-mile buffer zone is a real pesticide regulation, but it typically applies to large-scale agricultural spraying near schools and crops, not to a lawn care worker with a hose working on a residential yard. Depending on the state, lawn care companies maintain “no-spray” registries for residents with documented medical sensitivities — but being annoyed is not the same as being on the list. Whatever her reasons, viewers lamented her lack of neighborliness. “Why is she acting like she owns other people’s houses?” one person asked over on Atlanta Black Star’s official Instagram. Another quipped sarcastically, “You’re doing great neighbor, keep supporting each other.”
But one reply summed up the whole video in a sentence: “She could have just as easily asked the company what brand or type of pesticides they use and left what was specifically happening at that neighbor’s house out of it!”
